About Us

The City Hospital Charitable Trust (CHCT) is the sister concern of the City Hospital Research & Diagnostic Centre, An ISO 9001 Certified Hospital. Founded in 1989 with a singular objective to promote medical and paramedical education in this coastal region. The Trust has been able to enlighten the students who have entered the portals of its institutions, and has been an oasis of education to the very many students coming from the length & breadth of the country. Any student seeking admission to paramedical courses should make sure that the college has its own Hospital for clinical training.

As a source of Inspiration and empowerment to many youths to face the challenges of life the Institutions impart meaningful and quality education. The City Hospital Charitable Trust is headed by wellknown stalwarts of education namely Prof. (Dr.) K. Bhasker Shetty, a well known educationist and a renowned Surgeon, Prof. (Dr.) A. Rohan Shetty, a famous Neurosurgeon, Prof. (Dr.) A. Roshan Shetty, a well recognized Laparoscopic Surgeon, Dr. A Kiran Shetty, a Physician and Social Worker, Prof. (Dr.) A. Kishan Shetty, an Anaesthesiologist and Educationist. They are also the pioneers of the City Hospital Research & Diagnostic Centre, a 200 bedded Multi Speciality Hospital promoted in 1987.

The Institutions promoted by the City Hospital Charitable Trust are ISO 9001 Certified an unanimous choice for a numerous students from India and abroad. In addition to providing quality education, the Trust is also committed to provide quality health care service through its well known hospital.

A “Free Clinic” at City Enclave, Shakthinagar as a gesture of service is also run bythe Trust.

Location : The educational institutions of City Hospital Charitable Trust are located at Shakthinagar, a quiet sylvanic suburb around 4 kms. from City Hospital, within Mangalore City. The port city of Mangalore on the coast of South Karnataka is linked by rail with all majcx cities in India. The nearest Bajpe Airport is 9 kms. from Mangaluru.

Admission Procedure

The candidates seeking admission to any course should filL up the enclosed application form and sign and send to the President, City Hospital CharitabLe Trust, Kadri, Mangaluru-575003, with the attested copies of the following certificates:

  1. S.S.L.C. (lOthStd.)
  2. Marks Card of the quaLifying examination (10+2)
  3. Marks Card of degree courses.
  4. Registration fee of Rs. 200/- by Demand

Draft in favour of the President, City Hospital Charitable Trust, payable at Mangaluru.
CounseLLing Letters wiLl be sent to the candidates on the basis of merit List prepared based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination. Candidates are to appear for counselling as per the call letter on the prescribed date and time along with the parents. The following documents should be produced at the time of counselling.

  1. Counselling calL letter.
  2. Original marks card of quaLifying examination issued by t h e B o a r d / University with 3 attested copies.
  3. OriginaL pass certificate of 10th Std or SSLC or equivalent with 3 attested copies.
  4. Original Transfer certificate issued from the institution where the candidate studied last with 3 attested copies.
  5. Original Migration Certificate from the Board / University if the candidate passed the qualifying examination outside Karnataka with 3 copies.
  6. Passport size recent photos 5 copies, stamp size 3 photos.
  7. OriginaL experience certificate for M.Sc Nursing courses with 3 copies.
  8. OriginaL Degree Certificates for RG. Course with 3 copies.
  9. OriginaL proof of date of birth with 3 copies.
  10. Physical Fitness Certificate issued by Govt. Medical Officer with 3 copies.
  11. Conduct Certificate with 3 copies.

All the selected candidates must remit the prescribed fees and complete the admission procedure on the same day.
Eligibility Certificate : Students who have completed their qualifying examination outside Karnataka State should apply and obtain the Eligibility Certificate. However the Management will render its all assistance to get the certificate. All admissions made are provisional and subject to the approvaL of University/ Board/ KNC. If the admission is not approved by the University / Board / KNC for any reason afterwards the Management is not responsible.

Facilities

CLINICAL FACILITIES:

The Clinical teaching for students enrolled for BPT and Nursing courses, MLT and Imaging Technology is conducted at the City Hospital Research a Diagnostic Centre, a 200 bedded multi-speciality

Hospital located in the heart of MangaLuru City and owned by the Trustees. The hospitaL caters to various patients in and around Mangaluru and neighboring distncts and also receives referral from the neighboring states of Kerala and Goa. In addition to the regular Medical and Surgical facilities, it has a full fledged Casualty and Trauma Centre. The Orthopaedic Department of the hospital is well known for joint replacement surgeries, interlocking nails and ring GOVERNMENT WENLOCK HOSPITAL fixator appLications etc. The hospital is aLso a recognised centre for its DNB programme in Orthopaedics.

The students are also trained in patient care disciplines like geriatrics, developmental neurology, community physiotherapy programmes etc. through its formal affiliations with various institutions namely, Mangala Jyothi Integrated School, Vamanjoor, Arogyamatha Kendra, Neermarga; St. Joseph’s Old age home, Jeppu etc. Training in prosthetic and orthotic applications is imparted at the Lions Limb Centre, Govt. Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru. For nursing students Krishna Nursing Home, Mangalore Nursing home, WenLock Hospital and Lady Goshen HospitaL are available.

LIBRARY:

The central library of the CoLlege has some of the latest editions of Physiotherapy Nursing a Medical books in addition to vast collection of Books in various subjects. Further, medical journaLs, periodicals and other professional publications are also availabLe for reference. Library is open till 9 p.m. Helinet - A digital Library maintained by Rajeev Gandhi University of Health Science, Karnataka is connected to our library internet and students LIBRARY will have access to an unlimited number of journals both national and international.

HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION:

Stay in the hostel is compulsory and the students will strictLy adher to hostel rules. The Institution offers separate hostel accommodation for boys and girls within the College campus. Rooms are allotted on sharing basis. Regular water supply and power are ensured round the clock. Campus has a restaurant, Free MedicaL Clinic, Emergency services are provided by City HospitaL on call.

RAGGING:

Ragging in the educational institutions and hostel is a serious offence and treated as cnminaL act and punishable offence. Therefore students are warned not to indulge or encourage or support ragging of any kind.
Cell Phones are not allowed in the Rooms and ColLege. Adequate Telephone connections (STD & KSD) are provided in the Hostels and ColLege.

SPORTS & GAMES :

Sports and Games faciLities are available in the hostel premises. The campus has a Large playground big enough to play Cricket & Football in addition to Volleyball, Tenny colt, Shuttle, Badminton, indoor facility for TabLe Tennis, Carrom etc. is provided in the campus. Since the institutions are in one location stay in the hostel is compuLsory for all students.

CONVEYANCE:

College bus is provided for the students conveyance for attending classes, Clinical postings, community area visits etc.

UNIFORMS:

The students wiLl wear the uniform and apron prescribed by the institution.

FEES:

Fees are subject to revision every year and revised fees wiLl be applicable to all the students of the College. Fees once paid will not be refunded at all. As a matter of policy students are not relieved during the course or during the compulsory service. However if any students after admission to the course decides to withdraw voLuntanLy from the college at any time before completing the course or during the compulsory service he/she will have to pay the fees for the remaining period of the course.

DIRECT EMPLOYMENT FOR B.Sc. NURSING (BASIC):

B. Sc. Nursing students after completion of the course are offered job in City Hospital with attractive salary and perks. This system is introduced to heLp the fresh Gratudes in gaining hands on training. Any disputes arising out of admission, dismissal, discontinuation or discipLinary action shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Mangalore Courts only.
